How to E-Mail Lists

Lists can be e-mailed.  This is useful in a couple of scenarios:

  1. Bullet To give another person a “printed” copy of the list.

  2. Bullet To archive the list.

Archiving provides some insurance against completely losing important lists, though the list will have to be manually re-entered into SpeedList.  See the instructions on backing up for further information.

To e-mail a list, navigate to it and then tap the “Actions” button:

SpeedList will then terminate and Apple’s Mail application will launch.

The title of the e-mail will include the name of the list.  The contents of the e-mail will be the list and each of its items, including sub-lists, their sub-lists, etc.  The entire hierarchy of the e-mailed list will be included.

The list and each sub-list has its own section in the e-mail.  Sections are labeled by an arrow (➙) and then the name of the list.  The lists items follow below.  Those items which are lists have arrows out to their right, indicating that they can be referenced further down in the e-mail.

Completed items have check marks.  Descriptions are also included with each individual line preceded by a dash (-).

In the example below, the “Food Shopping (Master List)” is being e-mailed.  The first few items of the master list are shown, with “Fruit” and “Vegetables” being marked as sub-lists by an arrow to their right.  The “Milk” item is marked as completed and has a description with one line, “2% organic”.  The “Fruit” and “Vegetables” sub-lists are also detailed in their own sections following the “Food Shopping (Master List)” section.

A set of action buttons will appear.  Tap the “E-mail” button.
