How to Lock Lists
Lists can be locked to guard against accidental deletion.
When a list is locked neither it nor any of its items and sub-lists can be deleted. The deletion feature is automatically disabled and hence the red “Delete” buttons never appear. The protection extends downward through the entire hierarchy of sub-lists. All descendants of a locked list are effectively locked regardless of whether they are explicitly locked.
Locking a list does not prevent the following:
Renaming of items and sub-lists
Reordering of items and sub-lists
Creation of new items and sub-lists
Copying to or from the locked list
Moving a locked sub-list from an unlocked list
To lock or unlock a list, navigate to the list you wish to change and tap the “Actions” button:
A set of action button will appear. Tap the “lock” button.

When a list is locked it will show the “locked” icon to the left of its name wherever it appears in SpeedList. As we can see in this next screenshot, the “Food Shopping (Master List)” is the only locked list.
Locking a list guards against accidental deletion by disabling those actions that could delete or remove items from a list. Those actions include deletion and moving of sub-items. Disabled action buttons have gray backgrounds.
Note that the “Unlock” button has a yellow background to show that unlocking deserves a second thought without actually being all the harmful.
